In Tribute to Mary and Stan

As most of you know, Mary Baumgartner has instructed two advanced watercolor classes at the Art Center for the past three years. She has written at least one, and usually two, press releases a week for the Center since August 2004. You do the math. That’s a heck of a lot of publicity, all thanks to Mary. She also served on our Board for 3 years. Mary is a strong and generous woman to whom we owe a lot.

Many of us were privileged to know her husband Stan who had an outstanding military career, wrote and published books, helped raise 4 sons, and was above all full of love, joy, and kindness. Although he had been ill for many years, Mary always took very good care of her best friend, making the end of his life just as comfortable and happy as one can be on this earth. Surrounded by his large and loving family, Stan’s passing in October was peaceful. All of us have Mary and her family in our thoughts and prayers. Mary bears all with dignity and strength, and she knows that her Art Center family supports her.

Mary appreciated all those who visited, sent cards and flowers, attended the full military honors memorial service for Stan, or sent memorial contributions to Crown College. Mary’s friend and Art Center member Barbara Pitt of New Jersey also made a generous donation to the Art Center in Stan’s memory.
