A Few Words of Thanks from the Director to the FCAC Board
Dear Members,
Even since you received your latest newsletter last week, we have some
new developments! Some of you remember Gifford Nicolaides, fondly know
as "Nick," who was our first drawing instructor until he moved out West;
and I don't mean West Knoxville! He is back in TN and available and
willing to teach. At the moment, we are looking at Sat. morning for the
"Portrait and Figure Drawing" with a model and Tues. afternoons
from 1-3 PM for regular drawing , basic to intermediate. If you
have an interest in one of these classes, please email me. Nick is
teaching several other places and may not be able to change these days;
but let us know if you have an alternative date in mind that would work
for you.
Louise Farley is moving away and getting married. She made a great
success of her "Basic Drawing" classes, and we all admire her skills as
both a sculptor and painter. We're going to miss seeing her every week,
but she plans to visit occasionally and keep some of her work in the
Parkside Open Door Gallery. Thanks for everything, Louise, and best of
luck!! Note: Louise says to change the spelling on her email address; I
issued a list of P.O.D.G. members with "farley" in the email address. It
should be <rockyfarly@aol.com> if you PODG members will make that
adjustment to your membership records.
I would like to remind all of you that we are offering "Acting
Classes" for the first time! Robert McDonald III will begin
the instruction on April 1 and the classes will end in a production in
the Park in May. This is a great opportunity for the Art Center and the
community. Robert is very talented and very enthusiastic. I hope that
many of you will get involved!
We also have many classes and workshops: guitar lessons, book
making classes and book making & print making workshops,
watercolor galore, oil painting classes and workshops, clay
classes, jewelry workshops (fused glass), and exercise classes.
If you don't see what you like on our schedules, let me know, please,
and I'll work on it!!
All my best,
Sylvia L. B. Williams
